A first year woman student of a private nursing college in Oddanchathiram, who jumped from the third floor of the college five days ago, died at a hospital in Dindigul on Sunday. Investigation revealed that the hostler was stressed out as she had some dispute with her room mates. She jumped from the third floor of the college building on February 21 and suffered severe injuries. She was immediately rushed to a private hospital for treatment. Engineering colleges are awaiting the release of the All India Council for Technical Education’s (AICTE) approval process handbook for the academic year 2023-24. Chief Minister M K Stalin has announced a compensation of ₹ 2 lakh to the boys' families. Three boys on their way to school were run over by a car and killed in Tamil Nadu's Tirupathur district on Tuesday, police said. The driver of the car has been arrested. Rafique and siblings Vijay and Suriya, all aged under 13 years, were cycling on the service lane along the highway when an SUV hit them.  The driver of the car, a college student, was coming back from a trip to Yelagiri hill with his friends when he lost control of his vehicle and swerved on to the service lane near Vaniyambadi. Senior police officer M S Muthusamy told NDTV the driver was not drunk and has been charged with rash and negligent driving causing death. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin condoled the tragic death of students and announced a relief of ₹ 2 lakh to their families.

Several parents of students who have graduated from classes ten and twelve say they are being flooded with unsolicited messages from colleges on their mobile phones. They suspect that private data submitted to various education boards may have been compromised. Parents, students receive spam from colleges “How else will a management know that we are looking to enrol our children in college,” said parents, adding that messages were being sent from educational institutions across the State. The Parents’ Association has decided to file a complaint with the Department of Primary and Secondary Education urging an inquiry into how their data was leaked. A group of migrant students at CUCEK (Cochin University College of Engineering Kuttand) has raised complaints of the college principal hurting their religious sentiments by feeding them beef without any warning about the food. The students, who are incidentally ABVP members, have written to the district collector against the principal for serving them beef cutlet. Meanwhile, Principal DR Sunil Kumar said that it were not the college authorities who had provided the snacks.
